Building Your Roster

Let's cover the essential aspects of the game rules that players need to quickly understand to get started with Level Up Path to Glory:

  1. Pick Your Faction: Choose a single Age of Sigmar faction for your army (e.g., Stormcast Eternals, Maggotkin of Nurgle). Units can be drawn from that faction and the same Grand Alliance. As the rules are written, your chosen faction has 1 hero, that will be your general. The general's regiment then gets up to four units from that faction. Those four units cannot include another hero, even if normally that hero could be attached to a regiment as a secondary unit. After your general's regiment, you can add up to four regiments, including a hero and three units, as normal. Here the rules specifically state you can include heroes attached as secondary units. It also states that the only limitation of where the regiments after the first are chosen from is that they need only share the same Grand Alliance. (This means, if someone was playing Nighthaunt, a second regiment could be made up of Soulblight Gravelord units, and a third of Flesheater Courts units). There are no Regiments of Renown, you will be able to build those later on. There are also no Armies of Renown. Remember, you are carving this army's renown from the jungle of Thyria.
  2. Starting Points: We are starting at 1000 points. If your faction has an Anvil of Apotheosis for Path to Glory, we are using the middle tier of Destiny Points for the purpose of constructing your general, generally 30 Destiny Points, but this does vary with some factions, so check either your Battletome, Wahapedia, or a list-building app.
  3. Arcane Tome: Your Arcane Tome is your collection of spells, manifestations, and prayers. To start, you can pick up to 3 spells from a single lore, up to 3 prayers from a single lore, and up to 3 Manifestations from a single lore. You must pick from lores available to your faction. Obviously, this includes the lores unique to your faction and the universal manifestation, but there is also Campaign specific Prayer and spell lores you can choose from: the Lore of the Overgrown Wilds and the Prayers of the Jade Soul. You will have the chance to make changes to your Arcane Tome as the campaign progresses.
  4. Battle Profiles & Points: Build your list. You cannot take any Scourge of Ghyran units. When selecting units, use each unit’s current battle profile and points as listed in the official Age of Sigmar battle profiles/documentation. These points are used to make sure your roster does not exceed the starting point limit. Apps like NewRecruit and Sigdex have added the Blighted Wilds campaign option to their list builders.
  5. No Unique Units: The campaign’s narrative focus generally discourages Unique/Legend units from being included in your starting roster — they want your story to grow organically from unnamed warriors to legends.
  6. Enhancements: When building your roster, you can choose enhancements from your faction's normal list, or the enhancements specific to the Blighted Wilds Campaign. Something of note: apps like new recruit let you select multiple enhancements. To start, you only get 1 Heroic trait, 1 artefact, and 1 of any faction specific enhancements, (i.e. monster upgrades for Kruleboyz). As you achieve major and minor victories, you will be able to select more enhancements to attach to elegible heoes as the campaign progresses.
